| Arts and Crafts Media Cabinet |

I designed this cabinet to be used by the client as a place to store audio equipment, DVD in drawers and at 36" tall, a stand for the TV. She spoke of a fondness for "defects" in her wood furniture, and so the selection of wood aimed to fulfill that wish. Knots and splits in the top plus the details of pegs, forged iron pulls, are meant to express in no uncertain terms the quality of authentic, hand-made furniture. I choose the Arts and Crafts style for this reason. The"art" is in the proportions... the relationships of one part to another once the function is satisfied. In this instance, a drawer tall enough for a DVD case. From there, the size of the glass panes are determined, then the size of the pulls, etc.
