The decorator showed me a magazine picture and from that I built two of these cocktail tables and four sofa end tables to make a set. She saw the marquetry work I did on the Desk Armoire doors and asked for something similiar for the tops. To protect the veneer, I applied a tough acrylic and buffed it to a high sheen so that the mahogany grain will bounce hi-lights in different directions.
